Oh yeah, I have to think Das Boot rates well with all subsurface travelers; those few I've known liked it in any case...another, in the more cheesey Hollywood spirit, Run Silent, Run Deep, was well liked if only because Burt Teeth Lancaster just has to be the best over-sized able seaman there ever was, and anybody that wins Debra Kerr gets my vote--from Here to Eternity even...

Don Rickles was in that- RSRD. What a thespian.

The director arranged for him to spend time aboard a real ship so he could get familiar with everything. He told Lancaster about that and Burt said, "Don't worry about any of that shit. Just show up on time for your scenes and know your lines."

Burt was the best. Atlantic City baby!
